Integrate existing applications
Reduce integration risk with a replaceable adapter and staged acceptance.
Inventory existing assumptions
Website under maintenance. The planned API domain is api.ubtl.net, with https://api.ubtl.net/v1 as the proposed OpenAI-compatible base URL. Use these settings for preparation and confirm the actual endpoint and model before routing production traffic.
List the protocols, message roles, tool formats, and error behavior your application currently depends on. Check whether content passes through other proxies or logging systems, and locate hard-coded connection settings. This inventory reveals more compatibility risk than simply replacing one address and assuming the rest will behave identically.
export OPENAI_BASE_URL="https://api.ubtl.net/v1"
export OPENAI_API_KEY="YOUR_UBTL_API_KEY"
export OPENAI_MODEL="YOUR_MODEL_ID"Create a replaceable boundary
Keep connection settings, authentication, and response translation in an adapter rather than distributing secret handling across business screens. Configure a target service only after support confirms its protocol and model capabilities. Validate compatibility feature by feature; an SDK name does not demonstrate access to every model or provider.
Introduce changes with a rollback path
Start with non-sensitive minimal tests, then add representative tasks and failure scenarios. Preserve the previous configuration and define when to pause a rollout and who owns that decision. Observe output quality and failure categories, not merely whether a request returned something. A response alone does not establish successful integration.
